Frequently Asked Questions

• How long does completing an electrical repair or installation in Brooklyn typically take?

At Daven Electric Corp., project timelines depend on the type and complexity of the job, but here’s a general idea:

  • Small repairs like outlet replacements or fixture installations: 1–2 hours
  • Moderate jobs such as electric panel upgrades or ceiling fan wiring: 3–5 hours
  • Larger installations like whole-home rewiring or generator setups: 1–3 days

We understand your time is valuable. Our licensed electricians in Brooklyn work efficiently without cutting corners. We assess your needs during a walkthrough or consultation, provide a clear timeline, and stick to it. Need a fast turnaround for emergency electrical repair in Brooklyn? We’ve got you covered with prompt same-day service whenever possible.

We also coordinate with inspectors and the New York City Department of Buildings when permits or final sign-offs are needed. No delays, no guesswork—just reliable service from your trusted Brooklyn electrical contractor.

• Are there any special permits or inspections required for electrical work in Brooklyn?

Yes, in many cases. Electrical work in Brooklyn, New York, often requires permits and inspections, especially for major projects. As a Licensed Master Electrician, Daven Electric Corp. handles this entire process for you.

Here’s what usually needs a permit:

  1. Electrical panel upgrades
  2. New circuits or rewiring
  3. Generator installations
  4. Smart home system wiring
  5. Commercial build-outs

All permits are issued through the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB). Once the work is complete, DOB inspections may be required to confirm compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NYC Electrical Code.

  We take care of:

  • Filing all necessary applications
  • Scheduling inspections
  • Ensuring your project is 100% code-compliant
  • Finalizing sign-offs without delays

With Daven Electric, you won’t have to worry about paperwork, rejections, or failed inspections. We make it simple and stress-free—just the way it should be.

• How do I know if I need an electrical panel upgrade in my Brooklyn home?

Here are a few clear signs your electrical panel may need to be replaced or upgraded:

  • Frequent circuit breaker trips
  • Lights flickering or dimming randomly
  • You still have a fuse box instead of a modern breaker panel
  • New appliances cause power outages
  • Home renovations or additions

Most older homes in Brooklyn weren’t designed for today’s power needs, especially when adding central AC units, electric vehicle chargers, or smart home tech. Upgrading your electrical panel helps protect your home, ensures wiring code compliance, and gives you reliable, consistent power.

At Daven Electric Corp., we provide safe and affordable electric panel upgrades in Brooklyn. Our team will inspect your current setup and recommend a panel that meets your current and future needs. All work is performed by a licensed electrician and follows NEC and OSHA guidelines.

• Do Brooklyn electricians follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) standards?

Yes—and at Daven Electric Corp., we follow the NEC and NYC Electrical Code on every project. The National Electrical Code sets the baseline for safe electrical design, installation, and inspection. But New York City has its own amendments to the NEC, and we’re well-versed in both.

Here’s what we ensure on every job:

  • Proper wire sizing
  • Correct circuit protection
  • Safe grounding and bonding
  • Smoke detector and GFCI placement
  • Labeling and load calculations
  • Energy-efficient lighting setups

Whether it’s a home electrical system upgrade, a power outage repair, or new construction wiring—we don’t cut corners. Code compliance keeps your property safe and avoids issues with insurance claims or future inspections. As Brooklyn’s trusted local electricians, our reputation is built on doing it right the first time.

• Are electrical contractors in Brooklyn OSHA-certified for commercial projects?

Yes, and at Daven Electric Corp., we take workplace safety seriously. Our team follows all OSHA standards for construction and electrical work to keep your job site safe and in compliance.

Here’s how we handle commercial projects in Brooklyn:

  • OSHA 10/30 certified team members
  • Proper lockout/tagout procedures
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) on every job
  • Routine safety meetings and compliance checklists
  • Documented hazard assessments before starting work

We’ve worked on retail spaces, data centers, restaurants, medical facilities—you name it. Every commercial electrical project is done with safety, code compliance, and long-term reliability in mind. As a fully licensed and insured electrical contractor in Brooklyn, we’re trusted by general contractors, property managers, and business owners all across Kings County.
